Four minutes of refreshment (better than Starbucks — and free!)

So you’ve just had your first portfolio conference, and your editor has given you some positive and negative feedback and some solid advice about what you can do to succeed.

Maybe you also got some advice about how to manage the stress. Yes, we admit it: The Missourian and Vox experience can be a little stressful for some people.

If you haven’t thought about what you can do to manage the stress, you might think about meditation.

I have a friend who teaches it. Her name is Lynn Rossy, and she’s kind of a rock star, actually, in mindfulness. She has a super-short guided meditation on her blog that is  quite effective.

It’s the perfect thing for the stressed-out student journalist trying to balance reporting, other classes, work and, well, life. And it takes less than five minutes.

Check it out.

It feels so good whenever you take a break, breathe and be present. And as Wordsworth wrote: bliss was it in that dawn to be alive.
