Most reporters use their smart phones almost constantly to gather sounds, scenes and images and to share them with their followers. Some of that work is published by the news organizations they work for as well and becomes part of the total package that news consumers see on line and in the newspaper. The visual reporting in a newsroom, then, is more of a collaborative effort than ever. So it’s important that you get comfortable with how it’s done and begin to develop your own visual style as a reporter. Maybe you already do this on Instagram and in your other social media activities. Apply what you’ve learned to reporting this semester and begin to develop it toward the goal of storytelling and story sharing. Here are some ways we’d like you to do that this semester.
